Job safety guide
Most employers are honest, but some offers are scams or lead to exploitation. These signs help you stay safe.
Warning signs
- You are asked to pay an application, training, uniform, visa or “processing” fee, or a deposit.
- You are asked to hand over your original passport, ID card or family book.
- The salary is very high for simple work, or the job description is vague.
- You are pressured to decide or travel immediately, or to keep the offer secret.
- You are asked for bank card numbers, PIN codes or online banking passwords.
- The employer only communicates through private messaging and refuses to meet in a real office.
- The job is overseas but the recruiter cannot show an agency licence.
What our checks do — and do not do
“Verified employer” means our team reviewed the business's registration and contact information. Every listing also passes automated risk checks before it is published. These checks reduce risk, but they cannot guarantee that a job is safe. Always use your own judgement.
Report a suspicious job
Use “Report this job” on any job page. Our moderators review every report and record their decision.
In an emergency
If you or someone you know is in danger, contact the police on 117. Victims of trafficking can seek help from the Cambodian National Committee for Counter Trafficking and trusted NGOs.
